ABOUT ME
Allow me to introduce to you. I am Olivia Hoekstra, a vibrant individual coming from the south of the Netherlands. I was born in 's-Hertogenbosch on the 5th of march 2003. With an infectious zest for life, I embody a colorful and positive spirit that radiates in all aspects of my being. Unafraid to carve my own path, I embrace a unique approach to living and the beauty of individuality.

I began developing my creativity at a very young age. I always knew that I was going to take a path similar to the one I am on now. It wasn't until the age of 17 I began to realize I can make my hobby into my real job and get people excited about my work. I wanted to take things more seriously and began to sell my artworks at first through friends and family, but then when I made a website also through people who are interested in my work. That was when my whole new chapter began and now we are here!

I am still developing and creating new ideas and artworks every day. I love to challenge myself en inspire others to explore their own creativity.
EDUCATION
I had the opportunity to pursue my education at Academie Artemis in Amsterdam, where I immersed myself in the captivating world of all-round styling and honed my creative skills. From the moment I stepped into the halls of this institution, I knew it was a perfect place just for me.
At Academie Artemis, I discovered a rich and diverse curriculum designed to nurture and expand my creative abilities. The program delved deep into the art of styling, equipping me with a comprehensive understanding of fashion, interior, and concept styling. Through a dynamic combination of theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, I was able to develop a keen eye for aesthetics, a strong sense of visual storytelling, and an innovative approach to design.
I learned to embrace my own unique style while continuously challenging myself to evolve and grow.
One of the highlights of my education at Academie Artemis was the emphasis on practical experience. From organizing photoshoots and creating mood boards to designing exhibitions and curating spaces, I was able to apply my newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios. My internship at Majke Husstege Projects allowed me to refine my skills and gain a deeper understanding of the art industry's demands. We also explored the business side of the creative industry, learning about branding, marketing, and project management.
My time at Artemis and my internship showed me exactly what path I needed to take. That path brought me here in the world of art and concept.
EXPOSITION
On the 20th of march in 2022 I held my first exhibition together with Maarten Kierkels. He is known for his self crafted tables laid in epoxy. We did a collaboration and created an oval table with my painting on it and Maarten did the epoxy. The exhibition was named Emergence because of my upcoming as an artist and my journey through the world of colors and textures. It was a great succes and when we sold the table that day we also decided to donate 12,5% of the upbringing to Ukraine.
All in all it was a great experience that I would like to repeat in the future.
ABOUT MY ART
My art style is a vivid tapestry of colors, infused with a modern and abstract approach that awakens the senses. I am captivated by the interplay of hues and the way they evoke emotions and provoke thought. Through my artwork, I strive to create a visual symphony that stimulates not only the eyes but also the touch and sometimes sound.
Textures are a fundamental element in my creations, as I believe they add depth and tactile intrigue to my pieces. Whether it's the roughness of materials like plastic, foam, glass, clay or the smoothness of a glossy finish, textures invite viewers to engage with my art. I want people to be drawn in, compelled to run their fingers across the artwork and immerse themselves in the tactile experience.
My art is born from the realm of dreams and imagination, where I find endless inspiration. I delve deep into the ethereal landscapes of my mind, exploring abstract forms and unconventional compositions.
Beyond visual aesthetics, I am fascinated by the power of sound to influence perception. While creating, I often find myself attuned to the sounds and noises that emerge from my process.
Color is the lifeblood of my work, a bright palette that dances across the artwork. I embrace vibrant and bold hues, interweaving them in the use of materials and textures. Through a symphony of color, I invite viewers to immerse themselves in a rich tapestry of visual stimulation.
My art is an invitation to explore the boundaries of imagination, to venture into a realm where the senses are amplified and emotions are enlivened. It is an ever-evolving journey, a celebration of the boundless possibilities that exist when dreams, textures, sounds, and colors intertwine. Through my work, I aspire to awaken the senses and ignite the imagination of all who encounter it.
